    Dorian Manza and Family

Dear Hamilton Families, Staff, and Community Members,

Welcome to a new school year! I hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful summer with family and friends. Our family had the opportunity to enjoy some quick trips around the Pacific Northwest and do some exploring. However, the highlight of my summer was spending time in the front yard with my wife Merrill, and my daughters Penelope and Izzy. Penelope and Izzy spent a lot of time playing in our sand box and splashing around in their kiddie pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our summer and we are excited to kick off the school year as official Hamilton Hawks!

Aside from spending some quality time with my family this summer, my focus has been preparing for an amazing and successful school year. I hit the ground running since my hiring was announced in April and I have been so impressed by the warm welcome from staff, students, and the community. Our staff has been working hard this spring and summer to hire outstanding teachers, plan professional development for next year, and to plan our work for the year. Below you will find our major focus areas for 2018-2019:

    • MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support)- We will continue to improve our system for knowing each student by story, strength, and need. The MTSS team will work with our staff to monitor progress for students both academically and behaviorally.
    • EOG (Eliminating the Opportunity Gap)- We will do so by upholding positive beliefs about students, building positive adult-student relationships centered on academic success and resiliency, as well as, partnering with families and the community to eliminate opportunity gaps.
    • PLC (Professional Learning Communities)- We will analyze data to provide interventions for students who struggle as well as extension for students who need a greater challenge. We will focus on high quality instruction with a heavy emphasis on differentiation for all students.
    • Social and Emotional Learning/Character Development- We will utilize our advisory period to focus on social emotional well- being and community building. We will also celebrate our strengths!
    • Welcoming Environment- We will foster a safe and welcoming environment for all students, staff, and families.

As we begin this school year I want to let you know we have several new faces on our teaching faculty and on our administrative team. It’s my privilege to welcome our new Hamilton Hawks!
