    Spring Testing
    Posted on 04/23/2018

    Dear Hamilton Families,

This spring, your child will take the Smarter Balanced assessments in math and English language arts. Students in grades 8 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).  This is the fourth year our state will administer the Smarter Balanced assessments and the first year for the WCAS. The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career.  The data collected from these assessments also helps us plan instruction and supports to best suit our students’ needs.

Most students will take the tests online. 8th graders will take the WCAS in their science classes during the week of April 23-27. During the SBA testing weeks in May, we will be implementing a block schedule (125 minute classes, 3 classes each day). Students will take the ELA test when their ELA classes meet the first week and will take the Math when their Math classes meet the second week. (See details below.) Students will attend their other classes, as regular.  Students will have all the time they need to complete each test.

    Testing Schedule Overview:

    May 7-14

    SBA ELA (all grades)

Students will have 3 testing sessions, during their scheduled ELA classes.

    May 15-21
