PTSA will host our annual First Day Coffee on the sports court on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:50 am for family members of sixth graders. Please drop by and say hello. And definitely mark your calendar for the Annual Fall Kick Off Party for all HIMS parents at the Phinney Neighborhood Center on September 13 at 6:30pm….I look forward to seeing you there!

Lend Our Hawks a Hand
On Wednesday, September 3, all of our students will arrive at Hamilton for the First Day of School. We could use some help from families - especially veteran Hamilton families - to ease that transition and make the first hour of the school year go smoothly.
Volunteers will meet our Administration Team in the Hamilton Commons at 7:15 am and provide assistance for a half-hour or 45 minutes in the following tasks:
- Traffic direction
- Welcoming students at the doors
- Helping students find their homerooms
We'd love to have a few parents join us in the mornings on Thursday and Friday as well to help with directing traffic, answering questions, etc.
Sign up here if you can help! Any questions? Please contact Katie at the Hamilton Office - 206.252.5810.

Student Schedules & Lockers
Student schedules will not be available until the first day of school. Locker assignments will be given out thefirst day of school as well.
School Supplies
The 2014-2015 School Supply list can be found on landing page of the school website.
Other Questions?
The Forms and FAQ section of the Hamilton website can help answer the most common questions about theschool as well as direct you to many of the forms needed throughout the school year.

Hamilton Traffic Flow
We ask parents/guardians dropping off and picking up their students to ONLY travel west on 41st St. (southside of HIMS) so students can safely get in/out of the car on the school side of the street. Otherwise wehave traffic gridlock and it creates unsafe conditions for our students and neighbors. See the map here.

Principal's Letter

Dear Hamilton Families,

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year. It’s starting to feel like fall and after a summer of wandering aroundan empty building I can’t wait for the fullness and energy the start of school brings!

On Monday our 6th grade students participated in a WEB Day (Where Everybody Belongs) under theguidance of our teacher leaders and 8th grade WEB leaders. It was an awesome day!

We have several new members of our teaching faculty and support staff as well as a new member of ouradministrative team. I’m confident you will get to know our teachers over the course of the school year, butI wanted to take a moment and introduce our new administrator:

Tim Snyder, Assistant Principal.Mr. Snyder joins us from Eckstein Middle School and we arethrilled to have him on our team.He will team with counselor Neil Yeda to work primarily with our 8th gradefamilies.

August has been an awesome month! Our teachers, staff and administrative team have worked hard thissummer to prepare classrooms, schedules and opening activities for the start of the school year. I amthankful for all members of our teamand appreciative of their commitment to ensuring we have done thebest we can so each can student have a fantastic start to the school year.

As a reminder,ALL students start school September3. Students will be directed to a classroom in themorning where we will distribute schedules, lockers and planners. Schedules will not be available until thefirst day of school. School begins at 7:50 a.m. and dismisses at 2:20 p.m.

Hamilton is fortunate to be situated in such a wonderful neighborhood with a beautiful facility. However, with such a great location come the limitations of parking and traffic congestion. Please help by followingthe established traffic patterns for dropping off and picking up students as well as being sensitive to thelimited parking options available. We want to be a good neighbor and appreciate your assistance.

Go Hawks!

Cindy Watters, Principal
