    Dear Hamilton Community,

    I hope this message finds you safe and well.  I will be sending out our school update every Friday in an effort to streamline communication for students and families.  The school update will always include essential information and upcoming events.  Below you will find important information on the following: 

    • Curriculum Night  
    • Principal Q and A Night 
    • Distribution Days 
    • First Day Packet  

     

    Curriculum Night:  

    We will be presenting our Curriculum night in a different way this year.  By the end of the school day on Monday, October 12, teachers will be posting a presentation video to their Schoology page for each class period including the following information:  

    • Information about each of your student’s teachers  
    • Curriculum overview  
    • Remote learning expectations  
    • Assignments and grading 
    • Information on how to best contact the teacher for support  

    Parents will have the opportunity to reach out to each of their student’s teachers individually via email for questions, clarifications or inquiries following our Curriculum Night. We will be providing more specific details on the posting of the videos and accessing the videos by the end of next week. We believe that this online format is the most equitable way to ensure that all families have access to the Curriculum Night information presented by our teachers.  

     

    Principal Q and A:  

    In partnership with the PTSA, the Hamilton administrative team will be hosting another Principal Q and A session on Thursday, October 15 at 6:30pm.  This Q and A session will be like the one we held in September. It’s an opportunity for us to connect, for me to answer questions you might have, and to listen to your feedback. Below is the meeting access information and zoom link.

    Distribution Days: 

    We will be providing a weekly distribution day every week on Thursday from 4pm to 6pm.  Thursday distribution days are for families who have missed prior distribution days.  We will notify students and families if we are going to hand out any new materials in advance.   

     

    First Day Packet: 

    It has been brought to our attention that there has been some confusion around forms filled out in the Source versus the Seattle Public School required forms.  These SPS forms are separate requirements, as clarified below: 

    • The “Emergency Release form” is required for our Emergency Safety Plan. When students return to the school building, this form will be used in an emergency scenario, where there is a need to vacate the building. These forms will be kept with our Emergency backpack, providing emergency contact information for each student at our disposal.   
    • The “FERPA form”, is used to confirm consent to release, or not release of student directory information. 

    These are the only two requirements needed at this time. Due in part to the confusion, the deadline has been extended to October 13th, for your convenience.   

    As a reminder, please complete the documents above and return them via email to hamilton1stdayforms@seattleschools.org. Documents can also be sent via US Mail to Hamilton International Middle School, 1610 N. 41st Street, Seattle, WA 98103. You can also drop the documents off at Hamilton between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00pm. Please call the main office, 206-252-5810, ahead of time to arrange for a convenient drop off time.
