    ★ NEW Principal Dorian Manza

    Good Afternoon Hamilton Families,

Below you will find information about our Building Leadership Team at HIMS. We are replacing two parent positions for the Building Leadership Team for next fall, and we are looking for parents who are interested:

The Hamilton BLT is a school governing body, made up of teachers, staff, one parent representative (to date), and administrators (me, Mr. Manza.) The BLT works to advance school goals for academic achievement, financial stewardship of discretionary funds, and professional development for Hamilton staff. Broadly, the group discusses and makes recommendations on the building’s strategic plan (the Continuous School Improvement Plan or CSIP), the school budget (and related budget tradeoffs), professional development and other emerging issues, as needed. The BLT met twice a month from 7:30 am to 8:30 am on Thursdays this school year.  The meeting schedule for next year will be decided by the new BLT membership this summer.

If you are interested in joining the BLT, please email me by the school day’s end on 5/31 a brief description of your interest in and qualifications for the position. The Hamilton BLT will review the submissions against membership needs.

    Go Hawks!

★ NEW Congratulations Senior Jazz Band !

    Bellevue HS Jazz Festival
Sr Jazz is done with it’s contests this year and they have had an incredible year.  After our success in Reno last week we performed at the Bellevue HS Jazz Festival last Friday and took first place at that festival!  Joe F. (trumpet) and Sebastian S.L. were named outstanding soloists.  The band also won the Sweepstakes Award for the best performance by any group at the festival. There were 20 MS Jazz Bands and about 20 HS Jazz bands at the festival….quite an honor!

    Reno
These kids sounded amazing last weekend in Reno…winning both the big band and combo divisions.  Joe F. was named outstanding MS trumpet player and Kai J. outstanding MS drummer. SPS Annual Family Survey Distributed This Week

The 2019 Family Survey is being distributed April 16 by email to all SPS K-12 families. Paper surveys (with a weblink option) are being sent to households without an email address in PowerSchool. Surveys are being distributed in six languages and can be taken on any computer or mobile device. The survey window will close May 17.

If families have questions about the survey, you can refer them to the Family Survey FAQ, easily accessible from www.seattleschools.org. Families can contact research@seattleschools.org if they need assistance or did not receive a survey link (they may need to check their junk mail or promotions folders).

To encourage participation, schools are also welcome to send personalized reminders to their families or open up their facilities to families who need access to a computer or mobile device. Families will need to: 1) have access to the email with their personal survey link OR 2) bring the paper survey they received in the mail. Family survey results will be available early July to SPS staff and to the public in August. See the MySPS Survey page for more details, including information about the Spring Student surveys and viewing survey results.
