    Volunteers for Jazz Nights Needed

We really need your help to make the Jazz concerts a success. There are 3 Jazz nights a year at HIMS. These performances can't happen without your help! We still need someone to take the lead on the bake sale for those nights and someone else to do the programs. Job descriptions and dates for the performances are below. Please consider signing up to help! The teachers, students, and FOMAHI board will be very grateful! Email if you are interested in either job. Thank you so much for your help!

    Jazz Night Dates:

Winter Jazz Night: November 21st 7-9pm
Spring Jazz Night: March 5th 7-9pm
Swing Jazz Night: May 28th 7-9pm

Programs: A computer-oriented task! In the weeks prior to the concert, you work with Band Directors to get a list of performers and program pieces. Enter this information into the program template. Drop off programs at copier (in U District) and deliver to the school on the evening of the performance.

Bake Sale Lead: Organize the bake sale and get volunteers to help bake and sell treats. This person oversees the process and gets helpers for bake sale tasks including: ordering and picking up coffee and Bahn Mi sandwiches, sending out sign up genius for bakers and helpers, setting up tables. A lot of parents are willing to help with the various tasks, so this person does the organizing but can delegate. There is a detailed instruction sheet to go with this job.

    FOMAHi Board Member Needed!

We have a great team in place, but we're still looking for Co-president for Orchestra. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

    • Supports and collaborates with the Director, identifying specific needs of the program.
    • Attends monthly FOMAHI meetings.
    • Time commitment variable, but averaging 3-4 hours per month.

Email or Christina Holden at if interested.

    Basketball Coach for Varsity Boys

Hamilton Hawks are coming off a great season, in which they qualified for the SPS play-offs for the first time in many years. Interest is high and many boys are expected to try out during the week of December 9-12. Unfortunately, the varsity coach for the boys basketball team won’t be able to join us for the upcoming 2019/2020 season.

So, we’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable basketball aficionado to coach either our varsity or JV basketball teams for boys, given that the current JV coach is happy to stay as a JV coach or step up into the V role, depending.

    If interested, candidate should:

    • Must be available two afternoons a week for practices, beginning second week of December and going through second week of March. Currently those days are Mondays (4 – 5:45) and Wednesdays (2:45 – 4:30) but we have flexibility.
    • Is available Saturdays for games beginning Jan. 11, with game times anywhere from 8:00 am to 2 pm and at various locations around town.
    • Has requisite specific knowledge and love of the game to guide 13 and 14 year-olds.
    • Can complete requisite paper work through SPS and, if necessary, undergo required First Aid/CPR training.

Any interested party please contact David Evans, AD, at at your earliest convenience. Thanks.
