WAGIN Conference 2020, March 20-21, Ingraham High School
Hamilton is looking for passionate student leaders interested in attending the Washington Global Issues Network Conference at Ingraham High School, Seattle, WA, on Friday, March 20th and Saturday, March 21st. This international student-led conference on global issues will bring youth participants from around the world together for an exciting weekend of learning and action. Students will unite, discuss, and collaborate to amplify youth voices to protect our air, water, health, education, communities, and future. Students will attend workshops led by middle and high school students, learn alongside peers from other schools, witness student action projects that address 21 different global issues, lead a discussion about a topic they are passionate about, and hear from exciting keynote speakers.
If you have a student that you think would be interested or have questions about the conference, feel free to contact Dana Radcliffe at dpradcliffe@seattleschools.org.

HIMS TALKS 2019-20 Update!
HIMS TALKS has been off to a great start this year! On December 12th, Katie Remine from the Woodland Park Zoo, spoke to a crowd of over 250 students about the zoo’s wildlife conservation efforts and how students can contribute to these efforts. On January 30th, Kirk MacLearnsberry from Kilowatts for Humanity, led a talk outlining initiatives by his organization to provide solar energy to rural communities. He also discussed the importance of electricity in meeting the UN Sustainability Goals and human rights. On February 13th, Kelli Currie from Seattle University spoke on gender identity and sexual orientation, with regard to employee discrimination, and some of the related, up-coming Supreme Court cases.
Hamilton is grateful to have such inspiring speakers broaden our students thinking and to all the family and community members involved.
We look forward to a great program for the rest of the year with one to two speakers currently lined up each month, in addition to speakers that will be visiting us during Sustainability Week from June 1st-June 5th! Stay tuned for more updates!

Hamilton Music

Dear Music Families,
Despite the school district’s computer system being down, we have raised $30,000 for Hamilton’s music program so far!
If your child hasn’t turned in his or her pledge envelope yet, please do so asap. If you have already returned the envelope and still have checks coming in, please give those to your child’s music teacher.
I am happy to announce the classes with the highest percentage of envelopes returned and have earned a party are:
Senior Jazz Band with 78%
Treble Choir with 74%
Chamber Orchestra with 67%
In addition to the great fundraising success so far, students worked together to play 11+ hours of music – from the moment the bell rang for first period until 8:00 pm when the Young Musician’s Concert concluded.
Many, many thanks to you and your students for gathering donations; to the dedicated student musicians who worked hard to fill every minute of Thursday with music; to everyone who participated in or attended the Young Musicians Concert; to the music teachers for organizing all the after school music and for the amazing job they do every day with our students; and to the volunteers who helped make the Music-a-thon run smoothly.
