As you are aware, in response to guidance from Public Health, Seattle Public Schools has cancelled all large school events. This is the current list of cancelled events pertaining to our Hamilton community of which we are aware. Please check the school's website for updates and contact the office with any questions.

The next meeting is planned for March 17 at 6pm. This may change! However, the board will continue to work with Principal Manza and his team in order to find ways to support our community.

Volleyball Coach Needed
The volleyball season is quickly approaching and the Hamilton Coaching staff is excited for another great year for HIMS volleyball! We hope to have varsity, JV and JVC teams again this year, however, we are in need of a JVC coach so we can run a full JVC season. If you know anyone that is interested, please have them contact head coach Paula Littlewood at pcl@u.washington.edu. Go Hawks!!
From the Counseling Office
Ms. Kerby, LMHC, SUDP is the Intervention/Prevention Counselor at Hamilton International Middle School. Ms. Kerby will be going into the 6th grade science classes to do an interactive presentation on the dangers of drugs and alcohol use with youth. This presentation will focus on giving students the latest information on vaping, alcohol and marijuana use with a focus on informing youth and encouraging positive decision making. This is Ms. Kerby’s 9th school year as an Intervention / Prevention Specialist and she is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Substance Use Disorder Professional with over 15 years of experience in the field.

Hamilton Athletics

Spring Sports
Students must have all the necessary Athletics paperwork turned in to be able to tryout. Paperwork is available online: https://www.seattleschools.org/cms/one.aspx?portalId=627&pageId=14975953. Copies are also available in the Main Office.
Students that participated in a Fall or Winter sport will only need to complete the sports specific release form from Step 2. Student physicals are valid for 2 years from the appointment date. All other forms must be completed yearly.
Volleyball Tryouts will take place on:
- Wed, Mar 11th: 3:00-5:00pm
- Fri, Mar 13th: 4:00-5:30pm
Soccer Tryouts will take place on:
- Tue, Mar 10th: 4:00-5:45pm
- Thu, Mar 12th: 4:00-5:45pm

FOMAHI Music News

Register for Junior Jazz Band
Registration for Spring Junior Jazz is now open! Junior Jazz is a fee-based, after-school enrichment program that develops concepts in jazz and improvisation managed by FOMAHI. Students need to have at least one year of experience on their instrument. All grades are welcome.
Fees: $100/session, financial assistance is available.
Beginning March 17th, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, 3:55pm to 5pm.
Jr. Jazz 2 meets in the band room (124) and Jr. Jazz 1 meets in the choir room (111).

Prepare for the next Book club on Thursday, April 2nd in the library at Hamilton International Middle School for a discussion of You Failed Us: Students of Color Talk Seattle Schools by Azure Savage
You Failed Us is an exploration of the experience that students of color have in the schools they attend around the Seattle area. It incorporates direct quotes from interviewed students, as well as the author’s own personal experiences from when they were in elementary school, to now, about to enter their senior year of high school.
