Breakfast is served daily from 8:40-8:55 a.m. and lunch is served daily between 11:20 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. There are three separate 30-minute lunch periods. A student’s assigned lunch period depends on their grade and class schedule and almost all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students have lunch with students in their grade level. See Daily Bell Schedules.

Breakfast costs $2.50 and lunch costs $3.50. Learn how to pay for school meals.

For families that qualify as low-income, there is no charge for school meals. Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications are mailed out during the summer and are also available in the HIMS Main Office and from Cafeteria staff.

Free Meals for Students

Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. In all Seattle schools, students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals receive meals at no cost.

You must reapply every year. Qualification is based on household income.

Students who qualify receive additional benefits including reduced fees for the following programs.
